To clarify:
I draw a lot. And when I draw, typically my style looks manga/anime influenced, which it is. However, it’s not because I was all “Anime is so kewl!” as a kid, in fact for the majority of my weeb phase my art was still the crappy works of a 2nd grader. Anime is instead just how I see the world.
You can show me a picture (drawn or photo) of the most realistic person and I’d still see anime. Not stereotypical anime, but just…anime. I don’t really know any other way to explain it. Anime is just my reality.
I don’t really have a problem with it, but it was horrible in high school because I got ridiculed in art class for a style that, to me, was natural.
I know it’s confusing, but it’s kind of difficult to “quit” your reality. Anywhere I look irl, I see anime, be it the cat on a rail or the minute ways someone’s face moves.
